If the tuning that you want to use is not yet defined, you can submit it to the user-defined category. Follow these steps.

• If you haven't already done so, register with GAFF on the register page.
• Back on the submit-tuning page, choose the appropriate note for each string. If you don't want to include a string, select the "-" option. Note that strings must be defined contiguously from string 1. For example, if you want to define a 4-string tuning you should specify notes for strings 1-4 and select "-" for strings 5-7. No other method of specifying a 4-string tuning will work.
• Provide a tuning-description string. When the fretboard figure is created, the string " Tuning" will appear under the title string. Unless a commonly known name exists for your tuning, list the notes of the open strings from the top string down to string 1. For example, standard tuning would be E-A-D-G-B-E.
